The BHMCT Program is made of an intensive eight-semester curriculum which equips the students with knowledge and skills essential in the Hospitality Industry. The program meets the current trends in the Industry like Presentation Skills, Environmental Concerns, and Hotel Information Systems, besides management inputs in functional areas of the business-like Facilities Management, Event Management, Human Resource Management, Sales and Marketing, Financial Management, Legal aspects in the Hospitality Industry etc. With this syllabus, a Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) has been introduced, to provide choices for students to select from the prescribed courses. CBCS provides a 'cafeteria’ type approach in which second-year students can take courses of their choice and adopt an interdisciplinary approach to learning. The shift is from a conventional marking system to a grading system. The requirement for awarding a degree is prescribed in terms of the number of credits to be completed by the students.
OBJECTIVES AND FRAMEWORK OF THE BHMCT PROGRAM: -
- The basic objective of the BHMCT Program is to provide the hospitality industry with a steady stream of professionals with the necessary knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to occupy key operational positions.
- The course structure of the given BHMCT Program
is designed to keep in view the basic objectives stated above. Consequently, certain
essential features of this model are:
To impart to the students the latest and relevant knowledge from the field of Hospitality management. To provide opportunities to the students within and outside the Institutions, for developing necessary operational skills relating to the Hotel Industry.
To develop the right kind of values and attitudes to function effectively in the hospitality trade. - The following considerations have been taken into
account:
The knowledge inputs and opportunities for skill development have been offered in an evenly distributed and logically sequenced manner with appropriate options.
The design is simple and logical and offers the student a choice of subjects. Specialization is offered to the students in the core departments. - The relative importance of skills & ability development and attitudinal orientation in management education has been kept in mind, with the freedom of choosing methods of instruction, within the broad framework of objectives and curriculum structure.
INTAKE: - 60 Students
ELIGIBILITY: - The candidate should have passed the H.S.C. (XIIth Std) examination or its equivalent in academic streams of Science, Arts, Commerce or Vocational with a minimum aggregate of 45% (40% for backward class candidates) and non-zero score of BHMCT CET examination are the criteria for admission to the BHMCT Course or as decided by The Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra.
CURRICULUM: -
A Choice-Based Credit System has been introduced and
the total number of credits required for the award of BHMCT degree is 160 credits. (As per

The duration of the lecture period should be 50 minutes each. All core courses have a
practical component with external evaluation along with theory.
FY BHMCT Curriculum
INDUSTRIAL TRAINING: Students must go for 04
weeks of vocational Industrial Training during I and II-year vacations and submit their
training report certificate from the Hotel along with the log book and a performance
appraisal sheet from the hotel. Students who do not complete four weeks of vocational
Industrial Training will not be allowed to undergo industrial training during the VII
semester.
Industrial Training of 20 weeks is offered in the 7th semester. The students are expected to
train in hotels of category 3 stars and above. The training will be as per the schedule
mentioned in the curriculum. The students are expected to maintain a log book daily. At the
end of the Industrial training, the student shall submit a training report with a
certificate from the Hotel along with the log book and a performance appraisal sheet from
the hotel. The training report is to be prepared by the student in a Soft PDF file and 1
hard copy is to be submitted to the Training and Placement Officer within the stipulated
time for assessment. Students shall give a PowerPoint presentation on industrial training.
Evaluation of the VII semester is based on the Industrial Training report, Logbook and
performance appraisal and seminar on industrial training
